About Milford Food 2 Kids

Mission: To feed local school children who have little or no
food resources during the weekend away from school.

Milford Food 2 Kids is an initiative of the First United Church of Christ, Milford, in collaboration with CT Food Bank, and in partnership with our Schools and many caring individuals, organizations, communities of faith and groups in Milford.  We attend to the needs of local children who have little or no food during the weekend away from school.

Milford is not unique.  Food insecurity in CT hovers around %18. And Nation-wide, 13 million chidlren experience food insecurity.

This school year 2016-17 has seen the program grow from 26 students served in Winter/Spring of 2016 to our current service to over 160 students at 13 elementary, middle and high schools in Milford.

To expand the program to support the ongoing need throughout the Milford Community, we continue to seek sponsors for children in need in all of our schools. We are trying to build a sustainable program because the child who eats today is definitely going to be hungry tomorrow. We need the community to take on this mission with us so that we can finish out this school year, and preparef or the 2017-2018 year.

Our Goal for 2017-2018: Secure 160 sponsorships by September 2017
